Quarterly Review 1
Alright so now that April is here the 1st quarter of 2022 has officially ended! I figured that now was the time for me to do my 1st quarterly review, which is something I told myself I’d do this year to ensure that I’m on track and trending towards meeting all of my goals for this year. To do this Ive been tracking my wins thus far this year. So here we go. Here are the things that I’ve
accomplished and 2022 (listed in no particular order).
A1C Under 10 (6.9) - In September of 2021 I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and found out that my A1C was 13! That’s horrible! My OBGYN (which is who diagnosed me) immediately had me start checking my blood sugar levels and watching what I eat until I could get scheduled with an endocronologist. By december 2021 I was able to get it down to bring it down to 9 and had a goal of getting it down to 8 by the end of the 1st quarter. When I went for my check-up in March and it was actually down to 6.9!
Weight Under 220- My weight has consistently been at about 235 for the past few years and I’ve been struggling to get it down. Coming in to 2022 I made a few changes to my diet to help with the diabetes and I was able to get it under 220 which is my goal for the 1st quarter. I’m going to keep going and by the end of the 2nd quarter I hope to be at 199.
Published 1st Childrens Book- This was a HUGE goal for me to accomplish in the 1st quarter because I felt like if I could get it done at the start of the year, I would be on track to get out 3 books by the end of the year. I’m excited to say that I have actually finished writing my 2nd book yesterday so yayyyyy me! Now I’m working with a few illustrators now to get the illustrations done by the end of April.
Signed 1st Autograph- This one stills surprises me. Although I know people ask authors to sign books all the time, I didn’t think anybody would honestly want me to sign their book. My little cousin Maddox eis even trying to sell a signed copy on ebay! #IveOfficiallyMadeIt
1st Author Reading - In March I had my very 1st author book reading at the Highlands branch library in Jacksonville Florida. Pictures can be on my author page. This was a big deal for me because I’ve always had a huge fear of public speaking. Contray to that the Lord has blessed me to be able to speak well so this was great practice for a first event. It went well and I even had a few parents show up with students. I did a 2nd book event the following and I have my 3rd coming up in April.
Sold my 1st 50 copies of my book - Okay I actually sold 76 books, 74 physical books and 2 ebooks. I initially had a very ambitious goal of selling 100 books in the 1st 3 months but I did no promotion for about 6 weeks so I’m not sure how I expected that to happen. I’m very happy with my sales thus far and as I move into the 2nd quarter I want to sell another 75 copies of Victor the Vacuum for a 6 months total of 150.
Attended the Eddy Awards - As Teacher of the Year from my school I was invited to attend the Eddy Awards and it was an amazing evening for my husband and I. I didn’t apply to be considered for teacher of the year for the district because when the applications were due I was home recovering from a miscarriage. Prayerfully I will be teacher of the year again in my lifetime and have a chance to move further with the title.
Got a New Doctor - I’m so excited to have found a new doctor this year. Especially a black female doctor that really seems to care about me and my health. I’m even seeing nutritionist in a week to try to get my diabetes under control. I was diagnosed with diabetes in September of 2021 and I had no idea I had it so it had been untreated so I have to get that in order.
Attended a Childrens Party - This one may not seem like a big deal to most but it was for me. I have been avoiding pregnant people and baby gaherings for about 6 months now due to the loss I suffered last year. In March I was able to attend a birthday party and not be sad so that was a big accomplishment for me.
